Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Librarian to join our Knowledge and Research Services team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the firm’s attorneys, paralegals, and business services professionals by providing comprehensive legal research and information services.
The successful candidate will be adept at navigating complex legal databases, possess a deep understanding of legal research methodologies, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in client service. The Research Librarian provides skilled and sophisticated legal research for lawyers and clients using a variety of electronic and print resources. They also assist with collection development and complete special projects as assigned.
This position reports to the Manager, Research Services. It may be hybrid/remote in a Firm approved U.S. state.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to research inquiries requiring in-market expertise for research, information, or initial current awareness set-up as applicable.
- Demonstrate value through effective communication with stakeholders and key relationships.
- Understand and promote the role and functionality of the firm’s research, content, and information repositories and resources.
- Keep abreast of new features and technologies as these changes affect legal research, including assessment of generative AI features in collaboration with Innovation and Information Technology.
- Develop information alerts and newsletters to provide legal and regulatory updates.
- Ensure and facilitate timely access to relevant legal information and research resources to support lawyers providing advice to clients.
- Conduct research in a wide range of areas of law: business intelligence, public records, state/federal legislative history and news media.
- Create current awareness alerts for news, court dockets, and state/federal legislation and regulations.
- Assist with collection improvement by evaluating information needs, research requests, available resources and usage patterns; provide input on addition of new resources and removal of resources no longer needed.

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant undergraduate degree, Master of Science in Library and Information Science preferred; plus 1-3 years of experience in a public or private law library setting.
- In lieu of the Master’s degree, candidates with paralegal experience who have strong research skills and 3 years of experience in law firms will be considered.
- Relevant expertise with strong experience in Knowledge, information, and research in a professional services environment.
- Strong client service orientation.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common research output, trade publications and legal industry documents.
- Willing to take initiative and work independently, as well as part of a highly collaborative team.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work efficiently under time constraints with interruptions.
- Strong communication skills, and highly credible presentation skills
- Demonstrates ongoing learning and professional accountability that cultivates communication and collaboration, fostering immediate and long-term goals.
- Comprehension of a diverse set of knowledge and information resources
- Demonstrates aptitude and experience with technology as it relates to the knowledge and research team’s projects and initiatives.
